What Services Do We Provide?

Obesity is no longer considered a cosmetic issue that is caused by overeating and a lack of self-control. The World Health Organization (WHO) now recognizes obesity as a chronic progressive disease resulting from multiple environmental and genetic factors. An individual is considered morbidly obese and is a candidate for surgery if he or she has a body mass index (BMI) of 35 to 40 and is experiencing morbid obesity-related health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, arthritis or a BMI of 40 or more.

BMI is a measure used to define overweight, obesity and morbid obesity and reflects the amount of excess body fat an adult has.
