Rosyln received a diagnosis of aortic stenosis, experiencing symptoms like fatigue, chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, and lightheadedness. These issues led her to limit her daily activities. She was referred to Dr. Fayez Siddiqui, an interventional cardiologist with Mason City clinic.
Dr Siddiqu believed Roslyn was a good candidate for a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Re-placement, also called TAVR. This procedure is a minimally invasive surgery that treats aortic stenosis, a narrowing of the aortic valve. After the procedure Roslyn went back to living an active lifestyle and immediately started gardening again.
To learn more, listen as Dr. Siddiqui discusses the TAVR procedure in the podcast “Less invasive open heart surgery called TAVR now available and being performed on eligible patients at MercyOne North Iowa Heart Center”.
