Deanne:
I work in a nursing home in the housekeeping laundry department and I’m on my feet a lot. And I was working a lot more hours and I was noticing a lot more pain until it got to the point where I was getting home from work and I really couldn’t do anything after I got home from work. So I had talked to my primary doctor and he recommended me to Dr. Rad, here in New Hampton.
Dr. Radulescu:
It’s frustrating to see a young patient, a young lady in pain with limping. We decided to go the partial knee for Ms. Deanne because the arthritis was located to the medial side of the knee only. She’s young and I think we should preserve whatever God give us and is in good condition.
Deanne:
The arthritis pain is gone and I’m finding that I can work a lot better when I’m at work. It’s not as tiring for me when I get home, so I’m able to do more things when I get home and I have more energy. Instead of just hitting the recliner for the rest of the days. I’m finally able to get back out and start walking again, and I’m hopefully going to continue the weight loss.
Dr. Radulescu:
I am pleased and I concur with Ms. Deanne thoughts. Having a good outcome of the surgery is going to help the pain, mobility in this way. We can continue to enjoy our lives and continue to lose weight, which is good for the other parts of the knee, which are still healthy and will protect the other joints as well. Win win.
Deanne:
I was very nervous, of course, but he’s got such a calm, soothing voice and you feel relaxed almost immediately. So I thought, well, this is someone that I think that I’m going to be able to trust.
Dr. Radulescu:
We like to have the patients happy and do whatever they want, enjoy their life. It’s a journey and we’ll make it together.
Deanne:
Yes.
Video Summary
Working long hours as a nursing home housekeeping attendant and walking on hard floors, Deanne was experiencing extreme knee pain. Her pain was so intense that all she could do after work was to sit in a recliner to rest her knee. She was referred by her primary care provider to Dr. Mihail Radulescu, an orthopedic surgeon at Mason City Clinic.
Dr. “Rad” said that Deanne only needed a partial knee replacement on Deanne’s medial side where the arthritis was located. Dr. “Rad” was happy to preserve a portion of her knee to give her relief. Deanne is now pain free and is able to get back out and start walking again.
